Infant Classroom
Our Infant Classroom (6 Weeks – 11 Months)
A nurturing, responsive, and exploration-based approach designed for your baby’s earliest learning.
Cognitive Development- How babies learn to Think
Academy Goal-Provide responsive, safe, sensory-rich experiences that help infants explore, observe, and make discoveries-building the foundation for thinking, problem solving, memory, and curiosity.

Infants don’t “learn” in the traditional sense. Their cognitive development grows through experiences, sensory exploration, and responsive relationships with caregivers. Through discovery, observation, and cause-and-effect play, babies begin building the foundations for memory, attention, curiosity, and early problem-solving.
Foundations We Aim to Build in Infants
1. Cause and Effect
Understanding “when I do this… that happens.”
Examples: kicking a mobile, banging a soft toy, pushing a button.

2. Object Permanence
Learning that people and objects still exist even when they’re not seen.
Developed through: peek-a-boo, boxes with doors, ball drops.

3. Sensory Exploration
Using sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell to understand the world.
Examples: textures, lights, mirrors, music.

4. Memory Development
Recognizing routines, familiar voices, faces, and sequences.

5. Attention and Focus
Gradually increasing how long they can watch, listen, and explore.

6. Early Problem-Solving
Trying new ways to reach, grasp, crawl, repeat actions, or manipulate objects.

7. Curiosity
Building the desire to explore safely—this is the foundation of all later learning.
Social–Emotional Development- How babies learn to feel safe & connected.
Academy Goal-Provide warm, responsive, relationship-based interactions that build trust, emotional security, and early social skills so they can form healthy relationships.
During the first year, babies learn who they can trust. With consistent, nurturing caregivers, infants develop secure attachments, confidence, and the ability to express and regulate emotions. This sense of safety allows them to explore, connect, and build early social skills.

Foundations We Aim to Build

1. Trust & Attachment
Feeling secure with caregivers through warm, responsive interactions.

2. Emotional Regulation
Beginning to calm with support, respond to comfort, and manage stimulation.

3. Social Awareness
Recognizing familiar people, smiling at others, watching faces and expressions.

4. Sense of Self
Discovering their own abilities (“I can do this!”) and preferences.

5. Early Social Skills
Taking turns with adults, responding to voices, enjoying face-to-face play.
Physical Development- How babies Learn to Move
Physical Development- How babies Learn to Move
Academy Goal- To strengthen infants bodies and support coordination, balance, and motor control through safe, developmentally appropriate exploration.
Physical growth begins with tummy time, reaching, grasping, sitting, rolling, and crawling. By giving babies safe opportunities to move and explore, we support the development of strength, coordination, balance, and motor control—key building blocks for future learning and independence.

Foundations We Aim to Build

1. Gross Motor Skills
Tummy time, rolling, sitting, crawling, pulling up, cruising, beginning to stand.

2. Fine Motor Skills
Grasping toys, transferring objects, reaching with purpose, early pincer grasp.

3. Sensory-Motor Development
Coordinating movement with sight, sound, and touch.

4. Strength & Endurance
Building core muscles, neck strength, and stability.

5. Spatial Awareness
Learning how their body moves in space (over, under, around).
Language Development- How babies Learn to Communicate
Academy Goal- To build the foundation of communication through language rich, songs, gestures, books, and responsive back and forth interactions.
Even before they speak, babies are learning language through facial expressions, tone of voice, shared attention, books, songs, and back-and-forth interactions. These early experiences help infants understand communication, build expressive skills, and form the foundation for vocabulary and early literacy.

Foundations We Aim to Build

1. Receptive Language (Understanding)
Recognizing voices, responding to names, understanding simple words.

2. Expressive Language (Communication)
Cooing, babbling, using sounds, gestures, smiles, and early vocal play.

3. Joint Attention
Sharing attention with a caregiver — looking at the same object together.

4. Turn-Taking
Learning the rhythm of conversations (“I babble, you talk, I respond”).

5. Early Literacy Awareness
Hearing books read aloud, seeing pictures, listening to rhythms and rhymes.
